Future Interent: The X-ETP Future Internet Research Agenda
The first draft of the Strategic Research Agenda of the Future Internet x-ETP Group
This document reflects a comprehensive compiled collection of active and upcoming developments in the research world of Future Internet while clearly aiming towards the realisation of the Future Internet Vision. The main focus is to provide a well structured publication which reflects and covers the broad set of Future Internet aspects. The document is updated with regard to new developments and evolutions of research topics addressed by the Future Internet world. The aim was to identify future trends on the horizon before they have become buzzword mainstream in order to help the European ICT community to gain a position ahead of the market.
This first draft of the document has the objective to identify short term research topics addressing Future Internet that could be used to set up cross Challenges/objectives projects for the next FP7 call 4 & 5. This document should be updated and completed in the future in order to include new topics that are addressing the future Internet.
It should not cover the entire Future Internet but only a subset of aspects that address technologies that are supported by several ETPs. The following research topics need competencies from NEM, eMobility, NESSi, EPOSS and ISI and should answer to several objectives of the FP7 work program.
These research topics are connected to the challenges described in the Future Internet Vision document and address aspects which relate to one or several ETP activity.
In order to achieve the overall vision of the Future Internet there is a need to address specific research right now if Europe wants to stay in the worldwide race. The X-ETP group has identified a set of them which have to be addressed in the projects for FP7 call 4 and call 5.
