A Public-Private Partnership on the Future Internet
The forthcoming Future Internet PPP has been the main discussion item over coffee breaks and corridor meetings during the FIA Stockholm conference. The Commission Communication on 28 October 2009 paved the road for a speedy preparation of the PPP in terms of content and operations. The roadmap of milestones towards the first projects to take off looks as follows:
- December-February '10 - Consultation with the wider constituency, group of industry stakeholders, R&D centres, FIA community, EU Member countries, bilateral contacts and meetings, and many more.
- January-February '10 - Work programme drafting, including the special modus operandi for the programme and in particular the evaluation. Implementing the overall budget of Euro 300 million, we envisage for the 2010 call a budget of Euro 70 million and for the 2011 call Euro 100 million.
- March '10 - Open information day on the preparations of the PPP (precise date & venue to be announced).
- 14 April '10 - PPP Launch event under the Spanish EU presidency in Valencia, jointly with the other 3 PPPs announced by the Commission recently (Factories of the Future, Energy efficient Buildings and Green Car) - Conference Website
- 15/16 April '10 - Future Internet Conference in Valencia. Preparations with the caretakers have started already and a call for ideas has been launched recently - be active, your chance to shape the conference!
- July '10 - Publication of the work programme for the Future Internet PPP 2011-2013 and launch of the first call.
- October-November '10 - Closure of the call and evaluation of proposals received.
- January '11 - Start of the implementation phase of the programme/projects.
