First SOFI newsletter

The goal of SOFI is to complement EU R&D projects in the area of Internet of Services, Software and Virtualisation (Objective 1.2) through specific support activities. SOFI aims to ensure the position of European research as a leader in the definition and
realization of the theoretical and technological foundations of the Future Internet of Services, as well as European industry’s competitive advantage in the creation of value and new opportunities from its use. In this newsletter you can find interesting contributions from several European projects, as follows: – Analyzing and Strengthening the Development of Software Service Competences in New Member States, news item based on the SPRERS results sent by Prof. Dana Petcu from West University of Timişoara, Romania;
– important achievements of project SRT-15, contribution sent by André Martin from TU Dresden, Germany;
– motivation and first results of the CHOReOS project, contribution sent by the project's coordinator, Hugues Vincent;
– an overview of the 4Caast accomplishments after the first year, sent by Craig Sheridan, Customer Support Team Leader at Flexiant Limited;
– a presentation of the Sequoia project, sent by Anne English, LSE;
– a presentation of Alert project, sent by Malena Donato Cohen;
– report on IEEE CloudCom 2011 Workshop, organized by Cloud4SOA project; the workshop took place at the end of November in Athens, Greece;
– a press release from Flexiant, entitled “Ministerial visit marks Flexiant's pioneering work in Cloud Computing involved in FP7 research projects like Optimis, 4Caast & Cumulo Nimbo”;
– and last but not least, a word from Dr Lyndon Nixon, the SOFI coordinator, on how to contribute to this initiative.
