15 April, 15:00 - 17:00 What can Future Internet mean for Smart Health?

The aim of this session is to explore the potential Future Internet technologies could have in the improvement of Healthcare services. These have to address, in a more effective way, very important issues, such as:

  1. Demographic changes: better follow-up of the elderly population and chronic patients
  2. The mobility of citizens is increasing within Europe. To cover a citizen’s care, European Health Systems must deal with this situation, facilitating the interoperability among national European systems, as well as developing secure ways to share health data.
  3. Citizens need to be more involved in the healthcare loop (patient empowerment), and patient should be the centre of healthcare management (personalised treatment  and prevention)

Along the session, current developed services (the State of the Art), as well as trends in the Smart Health field (overview of the main open challenges) will be analysed and discussed.

The session will be divided in 5 different talks and a final round table, dealing with the most relevant topics around Smart Health and Future Internet.
