Session I.2 Linked Data in the Future Internet
Organisers / Contacts:
Stefan Decker, Soeren Auer, Manfred Hauswirth
The FIA in Ghent introduced the Linked Data concept, which is now prospering on the Internet and Web, to the FIA community. The task of the Linked Data session at the FIA in Budapest will be to build upon the achieved understanding of the relevance of Linked Data within the Future Internet. A specific focus will be given to the Future Internet Architecture, specifically to the Network Level and to the Internet of Things (IoT) perspective. In order to provide a basis for the discussion three different groups of stakeholders have been contacted and have agreed to contribute to the Future Internet work. These stakeholders are:
• Networking-focused Industry: From this industry sector we expect contributions regarding the requirements for future networking architectures, but also ongoing developments. Specifically the following companies have been contacted and agreed to contribute:
• Networking- and IoT focused Research: Network oriented research provides requirements, solutions and principles for the usage of Linked Data. We especially hope to learn about gaps in the existing standards for Linked Data, currently shaped mostly by W3C.
• FI Architecture: TFI Architecture: The interactions between the current FI Architecture, the identified gaps, and the exiting standardization efforts (such as the ones by W3C) as well as existing technologies need to be investigated.
As a result of the session we aim at generating a list of next steps, moving the establishment of Linked Data in the Future Internet Architecture forward.
FORMAT OF THE SESSION
The session is structured around introductory presentations from the stakeholder groups and a moderated panel discussion.
